The Lords of Neufcastel
Les Féodales de Neufcastel
Neufchâtel-en-Bray (Haute-Normandie region)
Neufchâtel-en-Bray is a small rural town located along the banks of the river Bethune in the Pays de Bray, about 40 km southeast of Dieppe. Among the main sights are to be found the château du Val-Boury, the 12th century church of Notre-Dame, and several sixteenth century houses. The town is also famous for producing a tasty heart-shaped cheese since the 16th century.
Every year Neufchâtel magically opens the gates of history inviting the visitors to a charming travel back to the feudal atmosphere of a day in the Middle Ages through a faithful and much accurate historical event in which all the inhabitants get involved. Throughout the weekend the visitors will have the chance to discover the historical camps with living history displays about medieval daily life, the musical entertainment and the many activities along the old town streets, but also the great medieval market with artisans coming from all over France to exhibit their goods and wares. The rich programme includes leisure and educational activities for children, workshops in several medieval arts and crafts, like calligraphy, coin mintage, cooperage, cuisine, and also pony rides, street theatre and performances of jesters, jugglers and other acrobats, the reconstruction of a medieval hunting dog kennel with the beautiful and rare Irish Wolfhounds, and many other exciting surprises for the families.
