Vikingemarked på Lindholm Høje
Lindholm Høje burial site, Aalborg (North Denmark region)
Aalborg (or Ålborg) is a Danish industrial and university city in North Jutland. The rich history of the city is represented by the earliest settlements of 700 AD, the 16th century Aalborghus Castle, several picturesque houses of the 17th century and the Historical Museum. Aalborg's location by the Limfjord made it an important harbour and trading centre. Lindholm Høje is a major Viking burial site and former settlement situated to the north of and overlooking Aalborg.
At the last weekend of June the ancient place of Lindholm Høje welcomes over 200 Vikings who come from all over northern Europe to join the Viking Market. They settle their camps, demonstrate their costumes and equipment to the visitors and tell about their crafts and everyday activities. The Viking warriors take part in the spectacular battles displays, and the talented riders show their skills with their Icelandic Viking horses. The engaging games and activities are offered for adults and kids.
