Les Saisies ski resort, Hauteluce (Rhône-Alpes region)
Situated at an altitude of 1650 m, only 30 km from Albertville, the Saisies mountain pass lies between the Beaufortain and Arly valleys, linking the Savoie and Haute Savoie departments. Les Saises is a popular ski resort and village located just in front of Mont-Blanc, offering to its visitors memorable panoramic views and holidays, with sport activities and several exciting events during the year. Among them is the Nordic Festival, dedicated to the life and culture of the Vikings.
The Nordic festival is usually held in December, to celebrate the start of the winter season, and a really unique surrounding at Saisies makes the atmosphere of the past particularly magic and convincing. This Deep North culture celebration invites the visitors to experience the Viking village and the Viking artisans’ market, to see arms demonstrations in the camps and take part in the traditional wooden games and contests. The program includes various animations, ice sculptures, cross-country ski and sports initiation, sled dogs, Christmas village, trained raptors performances and archery with 3D objects.
