Kyevan Rus Park, Kopachiv village (Kyiv region)
The Kyivan Rus Park, the centre of culture and history of the Old Rus, is situated in Kopachiv village, 34 km from Kyiv. The project’s main point is recreation of the cultural and architectural image of Detinets-Kremlin of Kyiv (V-XIII centuries), the cultural capital of Eastern Slavic countries, in full scale. The Park is not an ordinary museum complex, but alive city with streets, fairs and townsfolk, in which the atmosphere of old Kyiv is reproduced in the most authentic and natural way. A series of historical festivals and folklore events take place in the Kyivan Rus Park throughout the year, as well as spectacular weekend displays and initiatives for the visitors..
One of the annual festivals is “Legends of Ancient Kyiv of the IX-XI centuries”, representing exciting stories of glorious Rus battles and actions of Great Kyiv Princes. Among the participants are historical reenactment clubs from all around the world, professional actors and theatre stuntmen. Spectators can visit the craftsmen fair and participate in master-classes on ancient crafts, as well as try old Slavonic dishes.
