Tordenskiold Days - Oceanos, AD 1717
Tordenskioldsdage Oceanos 1717
Frederikshavn (Region Nordjylland)
The year 1717. The small fishermen's town of Fladstrand is crowded with uniforms. Busy couriers carry messages constantly to adjutants and general commissaries. The lines of communication are crucial. More uniforms appear. Yes, it is time... The hereditary one from Sweden has a ship nearby but Peder Tordenskiold is on the Danish side along with Norwegians. Counsel is taken and Tordenskiold decides the strategy. They must be captured! It needs a pincer movement that requires courage and patience. Fear must be put aside...
More than 1000 Danish, Norwegian and Swedish citizens meet at the Paradis quay at Frederikshavn, located in Nordjylland, on the northeast coast of the Jutland peninsula. For the days of the Tordenskiold Festival they retell and recreate the legends of Tordenskiold, the Vice-Admiral of the Royal Dano-Norwegian Navy, and Frederikshavn, the naval base of a strategic importance. The event offers market stalls, handicrafts demonstrations and workshops, music and food of the period, dancers and street performers. The spectacular plays take place, featuring kings, cannons, naval battles, humour, tragedies and much more. The kids can try fencing and dress up as the children of nobles or peasants.
