La Foire Médiévale de Château-Larcher
Château-Larcher (Poitou-Charentes region)
Château-Larcher is situated in the Vienne department in the Poitou-Charentes region in western France. In medieval times, four great fairs (one in each season) were held at Château-Larcher giving the opportunity for jobbers and workers to find work on farms or among artisans. In 2003 L'association E.C.L.A has decided to bring to life one of these festivals, and from then on it is held annually, on the 3rd Sunday of September.
For this event the village of Château-Larcher is reorganized into a theme park and is structured around four main areas where the visitors can experience and enjoy demonstrations of arts and crafts, artisanal food market, flea market and various medieval animations: theatre and dancing, stilt walkers, jugglers and magicians, real swordsmen and fights, equestrian games, crafts and cooking workshops.
