Brisighella, Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna region)
The medieval town of Brisighella is situated in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. Its historical heritage is represented by a 13th century rocca (castle), the sanctuary of Monticino and the clock tower rebuilt in the 19th century on the site of the previous defensive structure.
The Medieval Feasts started in Brisighella in 1980, and from 1987 every single year it is dedicated to a specific topic related to the sacred or secular culture of the Middle Ages. The guests of the festival can visit exhibitions and attend theatrical events, performances and concerts. Banquets are one of the most popular feature: in the taverns and in the streets one can taste historical dishes, properly prepared according to the ancient recipes.
The festival includes as well the market of traditional crafts and artisans’ goods, entertainment by jesters, musicians and storytellers, the percussion of drums and clashing of swords and enchanting street spectacles and allegorical parades.
